4 TOWNHOUSES IN ESSERT-ROMAND

PRIVATE CLIENT

FULLY MANAGED PROJECT

TOTAL COST OF WORKS : 986 000 €

YEAR : 2009

PROGRAMME : 4 three townhouses + garages

PROJET :

The plot, situated in a hamlet destined for further construction, is a band of land parallel to the slope. As often is the case in the mountains, the view faces in the opposite direction to the exposure to the sun.

Additionally, the plot is overlooked by a small building, wich is situated lower down the hill. Faced with these constraints, the architectural response was to design 2 rectangular building, each with 2 stree-storey townhouses.

These buildings follow 2 axes : The vertical axis marked by staircase, which serves all 3 levels : the horizontal axis dividing the building into 2 spaces. Living space on the south facing garden side and utility spaces on the access, overlooked side.

The elevation facing downhill will be characterised by prominent façades with wide spaced cladding, which wil carefully shield the view of the overlooking building while allowing a maximum of  natural light to enter the building.

Facing uphill, by contrast, there are large patio windows, in order to allow a maximum of sunlight, and giving access to a private garden for each dwelling.

From the outset the design has paid attention to environmental concerns and the dwellings will be low in energy consumption.
