MAISON CARHEIL

PRIVATE CLIENT

FULLY MANAGEMENT PROJECT

FEATURED : "MAISON ET BOIS international" n°19

PROJECT :

Situated on a wooded plot bordering the Nantes Canal at Brest, this first project fits discreetly into its environment. A wood frame construction was the natural choice for this woodland seeting.

To overcome the constraints of "monobloc architecture", often imposed by a roof slope of 45 °, the building is divided into three separate spaces with overlapping roofs. This provides the space required by the client, at the same time responding to the planning demands.

Also in the centre of the front façade, the  predominantly glazed living room juts out from the line of the house.

On the left a dining area, kitchen and cellar fit under a lower roof. On the right, offset and characterised by a difference in level, the bedrooms are located on 2 floors and covered by an asymmetric roof. The first floor mezzanine serves to link the 3 areas. The garage, with an attic above, is linked to the main building by a covered walkway, wich is largely open on the south side to benefit from the sun as well as lovely views over the canal and closed on the north side. The façade blends in with the trunks of the forest tansks to timber cladding in red cedar.
